About the Artist
Ellen Doss-Burton is a fine artist based in North Carolina that primarily works through painting and photography. As a survivor of a life-threatening, traumatic event as a young child, she found refuge in creativity to alchemize experiences throughout her life. It is her belief that from the worst imaginable realities can the greatest and most abundant gifts come flowing. Ellen’s work focuses on spiritual (re)connection through elements of nature, sacred geometry, and universal energy. She intends for the viewer to develop a stronger sensitivity to the ways in which nature is an embodied reflection of the sacred structure of the Universe. Art is a method of awakening and strengthening a collective understanding of our interconnection with the Earth as humans as well as how nature also reflects our cosmological and multidimensional connectivity.
Ellen is currently a student at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte working on a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in painting and a minor in art history, after receiving an Associate in Arts degree from Central Piedmont Community College in 2020. She has worked for the university as both a studio assistant and an academic preceptor, and in the summer of 2024, she studied art and art history in Italy through the university. Ellen has a projected graduation date of May 2025 and has post-graduate plans to earn a Master of Fine Arts in studio art.
Originally from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Ellen currently resides in Charlotte, North Carolina with her husband, Ross, their dog Bodhi, and two cats, Lucy and Juniper. When not making art, Ellen can be found dancing with hula hoops, immersed in nature, practicing yoga, or traveling to new places.
